Set-up
The increasing complexity in cancer research requires a new way of including patients for studies. This is one of the reasons why the DuTOC (Dutch Thoracic Oncology Cohort) initiative was set up.
The DuTOC is a prospective observational cohort study. We aim to set up a large observational cohort study of all patients with thoracic malignancies diagnosed in the Netherlands, with all tumor stages and all treatment modalities.
Within this cohort lung cancer patients provided informed consent for:
- The collection of past and future medical data and imaging
And an optional consent for:
- PROMs (Patient Reported Outcome Measures)
- Tumor tissue and blood
- Approachable for substudies
Research application
As this observational cohort study will serve as a basis for multiple studies with the aim to establish a continuous source for a variety of research purposes. The research database created in this project will contain a large variation of prospective observational data and stored biomaterial that can be used to investigate what (intrinsic and environmental) factors are associated with survival and patient reported outcomes, to find new predictive markers for treatment outcome and side-effects, and to develop more accurate diagnostic tests and efficient follow-up surveillance strategies.
Research applications can be submitted by sending an email to DuTOC@umcutrecht.nl
